Having depression is a painful experience. Depression may affect one’s health (increased risk of having physical illness, suicide and mortality), relationships with others (friends, spouse and family members) and work productivity.
With the support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), we developed a depression risk calculator, using data collected from a representative sample (over 10,000 individuals) of Canadian population. The calculator is to be used by people who are currently NOT experiencing a major depressive episode and who are aged 18 years or older. By answering the questions, the calculator will generate a probability of developing major depressive episode in the next 4 years.
